Best Cheap Digital Camera For Your Budget

If you're looking for the best cheap digital camera, you're in luck, or not so much, depending on how you look at it. Let me explain.

These days the digital cameras have gone down in cost a lot. Previously good digital cameras were way too expensive for the regular folks among us, however nowadays pretty much everybody can afford them. Getting a good digital camera for a good price is no longer a problem nowadays. While this is a good thing, since we all have access to a great camera today, it also presents us with various challenges, as it's always the case when there is too much of something. Which one is the best to buy from the many options available? Which is the right digital camera for you, not in terms of money, but on quality, features and simply personal preferences?

Even the cheapest digital camera has high resolution and this is because there are so many manufacturers making these cameras that they are truly fighting on market share which brings down the prices to our advantage. So now you can really find a good cheap digital camera for peanuts compared to their older prices.

You can find cheap digital cameras with 10 and 12 megapixels. Just 5 years ago when I bought my Canon camera, it had 5 megapixels and we were saying 'that's a lot!'. How times have changed! Truth be told, even if you go for a 7 or 8 megapixels camera you're in luck as the difference is hardly noticeable. Unless you want to make some very high resolution printouts, you won't even feel the difference!

What is however important for this camera is having a large LCD screen, which is bright and crisp. The reason you need this is because the most modern digital cameras no longer have the viewfinder so people have to look at these LCD screens when taking the picture. So having a nice, big one available is a major plus, almost a requirement. Go for one that is around 2.5" (or around 6 cm). Of course the bigger the screen, the better. And if you want to have a great resolution as well, go for one with at least 200k pixels.

The next point of consideration is the zoom. Even an inexpensive digital camera have both types of zoom, the optical and digital. Most of the cameras have 3X zoom, but you can find quite cheaply cameras with 4 x or even 5 x zoom. If you try to find something with a bigger zoom or a 'long zoom', that will cost you additional money, I can tell you from experience.

The most important aspect of the zoom is not so much the digital, as many would have you believe, but the optical zoom. Also it's important to have a proper focal length.

And just to see how much more there is to finding your best cheap digital camera, you also need to take into account the storage card. The easiest to work with and cheaper as well is the SD card. To use cards with capacity over 2GB, first check that your camera actually supports the SDHC format.

Some additional features that might or might not be important to you are panorama stitching, face, blink and smile detection, in-camera editing and so much more. These days even the cheapest digital cameras are fully loaded with all sorts of features, many of which people hardly ever use.

So you see, finding the best cheap digital camera is quite a task, not because you won't find it at the price you want, but because you want to get the one that is perfect for your needs and preferences.
